It was just over two years ago that I was photographing Megan and Alex’s winter wedding. I still remember the day like it was yesterday! It rained, sleeted, and snowed that day. Definitely not our favorite weather. I just remember how grateful we all felt that we had done a first look and formals before the actual wedding date. It was incredibly bitter cold and windy that night, but the photos were amazing and you’d never be able to tell how cold we all were! We never could have gotten those kinds of photos on the actual wedding day with how bad the weather was! When we got to the reception and got warmed back up, all we did was laugh in the bridal suite as everyone fixed up their hair and makeup. I got to take some really precious photographs of Megan with her mom before all the reception fun started. I’ll never forget the way they embraced and held hands, both overjoyed for the new chapter just beginning in Megan’s life.
It seems like they have a thing for winter photos with their wedding and formals in the freezing cold!! I’m just glad that they were a bit warmer this time! We went up to Silver Lake and it was a complete DREAM!! The seasons were caught between fall and winter. Everything was getting closer to being dead and fallen but the aspens held on to their yellow leaves just long enough for us to get some amazing photographs.
I’ll never forget when Alex grabbed Megan’s hands and “ballroom danced her”. He had so many years of ballroom dancing and loved it, but Megan does not share the same talent. She just starts getting spun around and danced while laughing the entire time. It reminds me of the many times my husband has grabbed me by the hands in my kitchen and has thrown me around doing a country swing dance.
Dear Megan and Alex,
I just absolutely adore you two. I’ve loved all the times taking engagements, formals, wedding day, and family photos over the years. I always look forward to the times I get to spend with you and your amazing families!! I’ve always wished you lived closer because I’d take you out for cookies all the time with me! I’m so excited for your new adventure in life and wish you all the best out in Arizona! Hopefully you survive the heat and hopefully Alex doesn’t mourn the loss of his skiing too much! I look forward to more adventures with you over the years!!
Warmly,
Rachel Lindsey
XOXO
