I’ve only been able to photograph a few couples who were high school sweet hearts and Jake and Whitney were one of them. I first got to spend time with the two of them back in February when we traveled up into the cold Utah mountains to photograph their engagements. We had so much fun laughing the time away while getting fun and romantic shots.
And the moment I knew their wedding day was going to be absolutely perfect was when we went to the Utah State Capitol for their first look and formals. Everything about them and their love was perfect and their wedding day at the Ogden Temple was a perfect reflection of that.
April 29th was a beautiful, bright, perfect day to get married. Everyone was so excited and the smiles that stretched across everyone’s faces brought tears to my eyes. These two were perfect for each other and everyone knew it.
One of my favorite things about Jake and Whitney was how romantic and sweet they were. They had been waiting such a long time for this day to come. Jake was watching out for Whitney the whole day and it was beautiful to witness.
These two have so many people who love them and came to support them! I have never seen such a big turn out at a wedding reception! What a fun night. But the real highlight and treasure was watching Whitney’s dad walk up to his daughter to dance with her. Talking to Whitney after the wedding, she said she had never seen her dad cry before that moment. I’m so grateful that I have moments like those to document so I can freeze that precious moment in time. And I’m glad I was able to continue to shoot through the tears pouring down my face.
